New York Public Radio Announces Editorial and Creative Leadership Promotions

Emily Botein, Stephanie Clary and Eileen Delahunty Assume Roles Across News, Podcasts and Cultural Programming

New York, NY – June 3, 2026 – New York Public Radio (NYPR) President and CEO Christy Tanner today announced the promotions of Emily Botein, Stephanie Clary and Eileen Delahunty to editorial and creative leadership roles across WNYC and Gothamist, WNYC Studios and WQXR.

With reporters across WNYC and Gothamist covering local and national news, live radio and podcasts, and with recent WNYC, WNYC Studios and WQXR experiments with in-person audiences and livestreaming for programs such as “Broadway on the Radio,” “Theater of War on the Radio” and “Carnegie Hall Live,” the appointments reflect NYPR’s continued focus on expanding multi-platform audience experiences rooted in editorial excellence and cultural programming.

“Stephanie, Emily and Eileen are exceptional, forward-looking leaders with deep commitment to excellence in journalism, culture and storytelling. As audiences increasingly engage with content across multiple platforms, we’re focused on creating experiences that connect our award-winning newsrooms, podcasts, live events and cultural partnerships,” said Tanner. “I’m excited to see the continued collaboration across NYPR as we strengthen our mission and help shape the future of public media for the next generation.”

Emily Botein has been named Head of WNYC Studios, overseeing the national shows, programming and the podcast arm of the organization as well as live events at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, NYPR’s live event and broadcast venue. Over the course of 20 years at WNYC, Botein has served as a key editorial and organizational leader, launching and overseeing award-winning shows and series such as “Blindspot,” “More Perfect,” “Dead End: A New Jersey Political Murder Mystery,” “The New Yorker Radio Hour” and “Death, Sex & Money.”

Stephanie Clary has been named Editor-in-Chief of the WNYC and Gothamist newsroom and live radio teams, which includes reporters, editors, producers and visual storytellers who oversee local and national news coverage on politics, transit, housing and culture, among other topics. An award-winning journalist and newsroom leader, Clary joined NYPR in 2021 as deputy editor. Her teams at WNYC and Gothamist have earned duPont-Columbia, Edward R. Murrow, Online News Association, New York Press Club and Webby awards and were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in 2025 for audio reporting. Clary previously held roles at CNN, VICE Media, MIC and The Seattle Times, where she was part of a Pulitzer Prize-winning team.

Eileen Delahunty has been named Head of WQXR, overseeing New York City’s only full-time classical station and one of the country’s most-listened-to via its streaming app. During her 35-year tenure at WQXR, Delahunty’s work has included the nationally syndicated “Carnegie Hall Live” series and WQXR podcasts, including overseeing the production of “Classical Music Happy Hour with Emanuel Ax.” She also serves as executive producer for live broadcasts from partner venues, including Lincoln Center, Trinity Church, the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park and NJPAC. She also has produced events from The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, which has featured artists including Lang Lang, Beatrice Rana and Joshua Bell.

NYPR connects award-winning journalism, innovative storytelling, cultural programming and live experiences across its portfolio of brands through partnerships with leading cultural institutions and expanded live and streaming offerings. The organization is creating new opportunities for audiences to engage with its content while advancing its mission of informing, inspiring and serving communities throughout New York and beyond.
