The New Yorker and WNYC Partner to Produce
New National Radio Show and Podcast
One-Hour Weekly Program to Launch in Fall, 2015
Audible Signs On as Launch Sponsor
(New York, N.Y. – April 29, 2015)—The New Yorker and WNYC today announced a partnership to produce a new national radio program and podcast.
The one-hour weekly program, to be built around The New Yorker’s award-winning writers, artists, and editors, will launch as part of the weekend schedules of public radio stations across the country this fall. Audible, the leading provider of spoken-word entertainment and a longtime supporter of innovative audio content, has signed on as the program’s launch sponsor.
The partnership brings together two organizations long distinguished by a signature mix of reporting and commentary on politics and foreign affairs, popular culture and the arts, and business and technology, as well as humor and fiction. Both The New Yorker and WNYC have maintained a steadfast commitment to delivering industry-leading journalism in their respective mediums, while continuing to innovate digitally.
The development process is being led by David Remnick, the editor of The New Yorker, and Dean Cappello, the chief content officer of WNYC.
